People aren’t giving things as gifts now, they’re giving experiences instead of stuff. Give dad amazing experiences as a father’s day gifts.
Did you know?
The History Channel reports, “The nation’s first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, in the state of Washington. However, it was not until 1972 — 58 years after President Woodrow Wilson made Mother’s Day official — that the day honoring fathers became a nationwide holiday in the United States.”
Before the 70s most fathers were opposed to the idea of a Father’s Day celebration because “fathers haven’t the same sentimental appeal that mothers have” and because they saw it “as a commercial gimmick to sell more products – often paid for by the father himself.”
When father’s day first came into being, since Father’s Day was on a Sunday, people went to church with a rose on their lapel to pay tribute to their father.
They wore a red rose if he was still alive, and a white one if he was deceased.
