Eating backwards? Here are ingenious brownie sliders – cakes that look like little burgers.

Whether you’re celebrating Backwards Day, a backwards birthday or just want to shock and awe the kids at dinner, serving these cute brownie sliders will bring smiles all around the table.
Brownie Sliders

Yes, they look like mini burgers but they are so much sweeter! Little cakes with a brownie inside.
- whoopie pie pan
Cake “Buns”
- 1 yellow cake mix
- eggs, water and vegetable oil per box
Brownie “Patties”
- 1 chocolate brownie cake mix
- eggs, water and vegetable oil per box
- ½ c chocolate chips
Slider Toppings
- ½ c shredded coconut
- leaf green icing color
- yellow candy such as giant marshmallows, mary janes or lemon or orange sour belts
- red icing gel
For “Buns”
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease whoopie pie pan with vegetable spray.
Prepare cake mix as instructed on box. Fill prepared pan cavities 2/3 full with cake batter.
Bake 9 to 11 minutes, or until tops of cake spring back when touched. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove to cooling rack and cool completely.
For “Patties”
While whoopie pie cakes are cooling, prepare brownies as instructed on the box, Stir in chocolate chips.
Grease clean whoopie pie pan with vegetable spray. Fill pan cavities ⅓ full with brownie batter.
Bake for about 9 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out nearly clean. (Don’t overbake or they will become too hard.)
Cool 10 minutes; loosen edges of brownies and remove from pan. Cool completely.
Toppings
Mix shredded coconut with leaf green icing color for lettuce.
Make cheese slices by rolling out giant marshmallows or Mary Jane candies, or cutting 2 lengths of lemon or orange sour belt candies to create a square.
Create Sliders
To assemble, top a cake bun with a brownie patty.
Put cheese slice candy on patty.
Dab a little red icing gel on sides of cheese slice to look like ketchup.
Drop a pinch of green shredded coconut in center.
Finish with another whoopie pie cake bun.
