People have been turning their heroes into bobblehead memorabilia for centuries. On January 7th, National Bobblehead Day, it’s time for you to celebrate your own collection – or add to it guilt-free.
The History of Bobbleheads

The first bobbleheads were invented in the 1700s, called Temple Nodders. They were made of Buddha and other religious icons in Asia.

Are you old enough to remember the bobblehead dogs people had in their cars? As they drove, the motion of the vehicle made the dog’s head bob up and down. These were German “Wackeldackel” bobbleheads of a dachshund.

And then there was the dashboard hula girl. While not exactly a bobblehead, it is the same concept and one that you’ve probably seen in someone’s vehicle.

Today, bobbleheads are popular for sports figures & athletes. Teams usually feature a free bobblehead day.
Take a photo of you with your favorite bobblehead and post it online. Use the hashtag #nationalbobbleheadday – and use #playtimeandparty so we can see it too!
The ultimate way to celebrate National Bobblehead Day.
