Get a Fresh Spring Wardrobe for FREE with a New to You Party!
Did you gain weight over the winter? Are you tired of the same clothes? Time to party! Save money & the planet with a New To You party for a fresh FREE spring wardrobe.
A New to You Party turns recycling into a party! Get your friends together and trade items game-show style, have a few laughs & go home with a new-to-you spring wardrobe for FREE.
My daughter used to have a new-to-you party each season with her co-workers at the hair salon. They were all basically the same size, which is an important point! Make sure there are at least a few people of the same size in each category to trade together, or include fashion accessories so someone of a different size can go home happy.
You get:
- new clothes for free
- a good time with good friends
- and you save the planet by reusing
Sounds like a win to me.
Everyone arrives, excited for a new spring wardrobe.
Everyone invited to the New to You Clothing Party shows up at the hostess’ house with:
- wine bottle under arm or a goodie tray
- their clothing, jewelry, purses, scarves & fashion accessories to donate
The hostess has the “game room” ready with a circle of chairs and a large space in the center where everyone piles (yes, piles) their donated items. There’s a table with wine glasses, coffee, and water awaiting the party-goers’ wine & food donations, too.
Hand everyone a copy of the rules so everyone is updated and on the same page.
By the end of the evening, there’s lots of laughs, and everyone goes home happy with their new wardrobe.
Make it a game – and make trading fairer – by doing it “Chance Auction” style.
You can make the rules whatever you want to fit your guests. Feel free to change them as necessary as the night progresses, after going once around the circle.
- hostess goes first to thank her for all she’s done
- contestant roots through the pile until she sees something interesting and holds it up for everyone to see
- if she doesn’t like it she returns it to the pile, if she likes it she keeps it
- when she finds what she wants she returns to her seat and the person sitting beside her has a turn
- this person can “steal” an item from someone who has already chosen, take something she saw someone hold up, or dive in the pile to find something new
- This continues around the circle with everyone stealing/searching/choosing until the pile has disappeared or no one wants the items left in the pile
- The hostess donates leftover items to a local Thrift Store the next day – make sure everyone understands this before arriving

Tips:
If it takes too long for someone to choose an item, it takes the fun out of it.
- You know your guests – you may have to set a time limit for choosing. Use your phone – the buzzer means take an item and sit down.
- Or you can set a limit to 3 things to hold up & check. This means there’s still hope of finding a treasure as it goes around the circle.
- If someone is too sensitive, or too aggressive with the “stealing”, it’s not fun. You may want to make a “first come, first serve” rule instead so there’s no hard feelings the next day.

When the party’s over, everyone gets a new wardrobe & it’s a win for the planet.
Everyone can be happy with their new items to take home, and with saving money. But they can also pat themselves on the back for “reusing” items, which is good for the planet.
And better still, any unwanted items left over will be taken to a local thrift store by the hostess to be “reused” by others. It’s a win for everyone. Great evening, fun game, more closet space, fresh wardrobe, and clothes for the community, too.
I hope you have a fabulous party. Enjoy your new wardrobe – and especially the challenge of accessorizing so you look better in it than the previous owner. 😉
Most of all, be proud of saving money & the earth by reusing.
