#1 Easy Red, White & Blue Parfait with Berries & Angel Food Stars

Red, whit and blue berry parfait or trifle for July 4th or any day.

This red, white & blue parfait has an extra step but the star-shaped angel food or pound cake pieces make it worth it all. If you want to {Go Big}, this is the parfait you’re looking for!

Red, White & Blue Parfait with Berries

This easy patriotic parfait recipe is perfect for July 4th cookout – or all summer long.

  • blueberries
  • sliced strawberries
  • pound or angel food cake
  • stabilized whipping cream
  1. You can serve the parfait in glasses or mason jars or make this a trifle in a large glass bowl. Since we don’t know how many you are making, or what container you are using it is difficult to give you measured amounts. You will probably need about 1 cup of berries, 1 cup of stabilized whipping cream and a couple cake stars per person.

Make stars.

  1. Cut the pound cake or angel food cake into ½” thick slices. Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out each star. (If you are making a trifle, just tear off pieces and put them in the bottom of the bowl for the first layer, and use a few stars on the top for a decoration.)

Make stabilized whipping cream

  1. Make stabilized whipping cream before serving and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Make parfait.

  1. It is best to make the dessert as serving, or you can make in advance and refrigerate but cake may get soggy.

  2. Decide how you would like to serve. You can go with the red, white and blue theme by making a layer of strawberries and stars, whipping cream layer and then blueberries and stars with topping. Or, mix both berries with a star in each layer.

Tips on Removing Gelatin from Pan

No need to arm wrestle your jello! Try these tips:

  • dip a knife in warm water to heat it up
  • run the knife around the edges of the pan to loosen the gelatin
  • have a larger, shallow pan of warm water ready (or use 1 – 2″ water in the kitchen sink) and sit pan inside for 10 seconds without water touching gelatin
  • plan your lines to make perfect cubes, and cut
  • moisten your fingers and lift out each cube as needed when making parfaits
